You already give away more than you think
Before you create another ebook, look at what you already send people for free. There's a good chance your best lead magnet is sitting in a folder somewhere.

There's a very good chance you already have a lead magnet. You just don't call it that.
It could be the PDF you send every new inquiry, or the pricing guide you attach to half your emails. Perhaps it's a Google Doc of recommendations, a private YouTube video or the spreadsheet everyone seems to ask you for. You're already giving useful things away on a regular basis. The only missing piece is a way to know who wanted them.
We've made "lead magnet" sound far too official
Say "I need a lead magnet" out loud and people immediately start planning an ebook. Suddenly there are chapters and a designed cover, then a launch campaign and possibly a webinar to promote it. Weeks go by, and the whole project quietly stalls.
It's worth taking a step back. Instead of asking what you should create, ask something much easier: what do people already ask me for? Whatever comes to mind first is probably the right place to start, because the demand for it has already been proven.
Your pricing guide counts
If people regularly ask what you charge, your pricing guide is a lead magnet. Turn it into a Magnet and the person still gets the information they wanted. The difference is that you now know who was interested enough to ask.
That's a useful commercial signal. Someone requesting your rates is usually further along in their decision than someone who liked a post, so a short, friendly follow-up to that person can be well worth the effort.
Your templates count too
Almost every profession runs on templates, from the project brief a designer sends before kickoff to the interview framework a recruiter has refined over years. Most founders also have at least one spreadsheet they're secretly proud of.
Any of those could become a lead magnet with very little work. You don't need to reinvent them or dress them up. Once anything confidential has been removed and the formatting is tidy, they're ready to share.
Your useful links count
This is the one people often miss. A lead magnet doesn't have to be a downloadable file at all.
Maybe you built a simple calculator, or you keep a private resource page with your favorite tools. It could just as easily be an interactive worksheet or a video you'd like people to watch. Paste the URL into Gluuer and gate that instead. The resource stays exactly where it lives, and Gluuer handles the email capture in front of it. URL Magnets don't use any storage, which makes them a lightweight way to get started.
Your old presentations might count
Some of the most useful thinking inside a business is buried in presentations nobody opens anymore. You might have spent days pulling together research for a single pitch or a conference talk, only for that work to disappear into a shared drive the following week.
Take the best part and clean it up, then export it as a short PDF. That thinking deserves a longer life than one meeting, and a well-chosen slice of an old deck can be surprisingly valuable to someone who has never seen it.
Your answers are already assets
Every time you answer a question well, there's potentially a resource hiding inside that answer. When someone asks what to include in a creative brief, you could write the answer once and turn it into a checklist. And when a client booking a first consulting session asks how to prepare, they've just handed you the outline for a preparation guide.
You probably don't need more ideas. What helps more is noticing the ones you've already had, usually in the form of an email you've typed out five times.
A quick test for whether it's worth gating
Not every resource needs a gate, and it helps to be honest about that. A good test is to picture the person on the other side of the form. Would they feel slightly annoyed at being asked for an email, or would the trade seem completely fair to them? If the resource saves them real time or answers a question they've been stuck on, the exchange usually feels fair. If it's something they could find with a single search, you're probably better off sharing it openly as a goodwill gesture and keeping the gate for the pieces that carry real value.
Why putting them behind Gluuer is worth it
The first benefit is the obvious one: the person gets something useful. The second benefit is easy to lose, which is that you now know who cared about it.
Those contacts belong to you. You can export the list or connect it to your email platform on a paid plan, and follow up whenever it makes sense. Most importantly, you start building a direct audience instead of relying entirely on algorithms to decide whether your next post reaches anyone. Platforms change their rules constantly, and an email list is one of the few channels that stays yours.
It also gives you a clearer picture of demand. When one resource quietly collects dozens of contacts while another barely moves, you've learned something about what your audience values, without running a survey.
Start embarrassingly small
Your first Magnet doesn't need to be impressive. It needs to be useful. A single page is fine, and so is a single link. Upload the file or paste the URL, and Gluuer gives you a shareable link in seconds.
Once the first one is live, you'll quickly get a feel for what people respond to. Some Magnets will collect contacts steadily while others stay quiet, and both outcomes tell you something useful about the people you're trying to reach.
Where to look before you make anything new
Set aside twenty minutes and go through the places where useful work tends to pile up. Start with your Downloads folder and your Google Drive, then check Notion and any old decks. Your sent emails are a goldmine, especially replies to prospects. Client onboarding documents and bookmarked resources are worth a look too.
There's almost certainly something in there that people would happily trade their email for. You've already done the hard part, which was making something worth sharing. Gluuer just helps that interest stick.
