What's the difference between a File Magnet and a URL Magnet?

Gluuer supports two ways of delivering a lead magnet: File Magnets and URL Magnets.

File Magnet

Choose a File Magnet when the resource itself should be uploaded to Gluuer.

Common examples include:

• PDF guides
• checklists
• templates
• worksheets
• presentations
• images
• audio
• video
• small asset packs
• other supported documents

When someone requests the resource, Gluuer verifies their email address with an 8-digit access code before making the protected file available to download.

File limits by plan

Free

• 1 File Magnet
• up to 50 MB

Lite

• 5 File Magnets
• up to 150 MB per file

Pro

• 20 File Magnets
• up to 500 MB per file

Lite and Pro can also replace the file behind an existing File Magnet without changing its public link, public ID, contacts, analytics or history.

Free does not include file replacement.

URL Magnet

Choose a URL Magnet when the useful resource already lives somewhere else.

Examples include:

• a Notion page
• a Google Drive resource
• a Figma resource
• a private webpage
• an online calculator
• an unlisted video
• a resource library

Instead of uploading the resource to Gluuer, you paste its URL and Gluuer places verified email capture before access.

After verification, the visitor sees an explicit Open link action. Gluuer does not automatically redirect them to the destination.

Lite: unlimited URL Magnets
Pro: unlimited URL Magnets

Which one should I use?

If you want someone to download a file, a File Magnet is usually the simplest option.

If the resource already lives online, changes frequently or is larger than your plan's file limit, a URL Magnet will often make more sense.

The important difference is where the resource lives. The verified contact experience stays simple in both cases.
