What happens to files after a downgrade to Free?
File Magnets that become inactive because of a downgrade to Free are not treated as immediately deleted resources. Their uploaded files can be retained for up to one year.
If the account remains on Free and the file is still ineligible after that period, the stored file may be removed. The Magnet record and historical information can remain even when the original uploaded file is no longer available.
Do not use an inactive Magnet as your only backup. Keep your own copy of any resource you may need again.
Upgrading before removal can restore eligibility for a retained file under the higher plan's limits. Upgrading after the stored file has been removed does not recreate its bytes.
This retention rule is different from choosing to delete a Magnet. Deliberate Magnet deletion removes the hosted file and is not a way to place it into temporary storage for later recovery.
The one-year period is a maximum retention window rather than a backup promise. Maintain the original source file and any editable working documents outside Gluuer, particularly if you plan to remain on Free for an extended period or may want to publish the resource again later.
